01Who we are
MelodyReel ("we", "us") runs the MelodyReel app and melodyreel.com. The app makes a music video from your song and your photos. You can reach us at admin@melodyreel.com.
This policy says what we collect, why, who helps us make your video, how long we keep things and what you can ask us to do.
02What we collect
Your account. Your email address, or the identity Apple or Google gives us when you sign in with them. A record of which version of our consent and terms you agreed to, and when.
What you add. Your song file and the part of it you choose. Up to four photos of you: the front, which is needed unless you make a video with no person in it, and your left side, right side and full length if you add them. Any clothes or place picture you add, and the choices you make (look, place, length, the lines you pick).
What we make from it. The words of your song, read from the audio. The beat and sections of the song. Pictures of you in each shot, video clips of those shots, and the finished video.
When you buy credits. A record of each purchase and of how your credits were used. Apple or Google takes the payment; we never see your card.
When you use the app. Simple events such as "video saved", with an account id and the app version, kept in our own database. They never contain your photos, your song or its words.
When you write to us. What you write in a support chat or email, and the video it is about, kept for as long as we need it to help you.
03Your photos and your face
Your photos are used for one thing: to make pictures and videos of you for your own videos. Every picture of you is an edit of your own photo.
Before you add a song or a photo, the app asks for your consent, in three parts: to use your photos to make your face appear in the video; to send your song, your voice and your photos to the four companies that make it; and to confirm the face in the photos is yours, or that you have permission.
On your phone, your photos and looks stay in the app until you delete them. The app checks on your phone that a photo shows a clear face before it is used.
We treat pictures and video of your face as sensitive data. They are used only to make your videos, never to identify you, and never sold or used for advertising.
04Your songs
Your song is used to make your video: to find the beat, to read the words so they can be sung in the right places, and to sync your lips to your voice.
The words of your song are checked for hate speech before anything is made.
You keep every right to your song. Using it in the app gives us no rights to it beyond making your video.
05Who helps us make your video
Four companies make the pictures and clips. Your song, your voice and your photos go to them:
- Google, through the Gemini API: checks each photo and picture you add, reads the words of your song, and makes the shots without a person in them.
- ByteDance, through fal.ai: edits your photos into the pictures of you for each shot.
- MiniMax, through fal.ai: makes your singing shots, from a picture of you and your voice.
- fal.ai: runs the ByteDance and MiniMax models for us.
We also use Apple and Google for sign in, payment and notifications, and Google Cloud to run the app and store your account and videos.
Some of these companies process data in other countries, including the United States, so your data may be handled outside the country where you live.
There are no advertising or tracking tools in the app, and we do not sell your personal data.
06How long we keep it
Your photos, your song and your voice: deleted 30 days after your video is made.
Pictures and clips made for a video: deleted 30 days after your last edit to it.
Your finished videos: kept while you have an account, so a video still plays and downloads later.
At the companies that make your video: Google keeps what we send up to 7 days to check for misuse, never for training. fal.ai keeps nothing. We are confirming how long ByteDance and MiniMax keep them.
Purchase records: kept with your name removed, for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
If you raise a claim about a video: what the claim needs is kept until the claim is settled.
07Your rights
- Delete your account in the app: Account, then Delete my account. Your account, performers and looks go straight away, and the photos and songs we still hold go with them. You can also ask by email.
- Delete your photos at any time: Account, then Delete my photos.
- Ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
- Withdraw your consent. Deleting your photos or your account stops any further use of them.
- Complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Videos already saved on your phone, or posted elsewhere, stay yours. We cannot get them back for you after you delete your account.
We answer every request within 30 days.
08Children
You must be 18 or older to use MelodyReel. If we find an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete it with its photos and refund any paid credits not yet used.
09Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change affects what you consented to, the app asks for your consent again before you add anything new.
